This is a mural commissioned by Moma Mary Sunbeam, a Native American elder who runs Mother Mary’s Mountain, a retreat center in southern Virginia. The mural is of Buffalo Calf Pipe Woman, who according to legend returns to the earth and restores balance and harmony. The other elements in the painting include an eagle, the mountain that the retreat center is named after, and various flowers that abundantly grow in the area. This painting is intended as an inspiration to all who visit Mother Mary’s Mountain to participate in retreats and healing lodges.
